Sketchin' Ladies - Attempt #1

Okay, so it has really been bugging me lately that I can't draw women very well. Growing up I was always drawing ninja turtles and Spider-Man, and never seemed to get around to learning how to draw the fairer sex. Well, I'm tired of it. My next extended project is to fix this problem. When I feel like drawing, I'm going to find some woman to reference. She may be a cartoon or she may be in People magazine, but darn it, I'm going to learn to draw women! First up is one of my favorite cartoon ladies of all time, Teela, from the Masters of the Universe. There are definitely some proportion and positioning problems here, but I think she turned out pretty well for a first try.

WEIRD SKETCH WEDNESDAY!!!

Well, I don't do Weird Sketch Wednesday* every week, but when I do I try to really make it weird. Here are some weird alien sketches I drew at work. I did these preparing for a jam comic my friends and I just completed. I like these sketches. There's a lot of energy at work here.

Captain America Painting @ ArtSpace!

Just to let everyone know, my pop-art style Captain America painting is currently hanging in the CoolSpace gallery at ArtSpace in downtown Shreveport, alongside my pal Jeremy's print (the one above Cap). We're part of a show called "Impromptu". There was a call to North LA artists to bring in art for an "impromptu" show, so I jumped on the chance to have some of my art up in the coolest gallery in town. Impromptu will be showing from March 10 through May 7, so stop by if you have a chance.
